My Second Christmas in Cebu

Most of my Christmases were spent with my relatives in Manila. For the second time in my 24 years of existence, I celebrated the Holidays here in Cebu. I have to say I had to adjust a bit. Celebrations in Manila are full force. The Lorenzana clan is loud, festive and fun.

We had a simple celebration this year and I'm not complaining. It may not be as loud as I am accustomed to but we enjoyed it. We had carbonara and tacos, which I prepared; and oatmeal cookies that my sister baked. And of course, we had the traditional Christmas ham.

Since my dad was also in Manila, only the five of us celebrated Christmas together. Our baby, Cindy was so cute in her red racerback.

What made this year's Christmas more special was the boyf's surprise visit. I was so happy to see his car outside our gate. he game me this cute and thoughtful apron and pot holders. My gifts for him were a watch and a wallet. I lab u my panggoo!!!

I only received four gifts that night and I can't wait for more presents my dad will be bringing home from Manila. Yey! I hope the kiddos loved what I gave them. I'm missing my relatives. I love you all!

Simple Pleasures on my 24th Birthday

Funny how I counted down the days to my birthday but I was stuck at 2. I also was not able to blog about it because I became engrossed with so many things, including work.

Today is already Christmas eve, the 24th of December. I guess it sounds timely because I am writing about my 24th birthday. Okay, definitely a pitiful justification.

This year, I decided to spend my birthday in a simple and laid-back way. After about four surprise parties in the last years, I practically begged my boyfriend to spare me this year. It wasn't really that hard for him to grant me my request because he was also busy with work.

I didn't stress about who to invite. I spent the eve of the 19th with my close friends in college and Marvin. We had dinner at AA Barbecue at the North Reclamation Area, then dessert at Kopi Roti in Mabolo. Eating, talking and laughing with the people I love made my celebration meaningful.

Added bonuses were the gifts I received. Thanks, Cai for the bag, RC for the bag, Mitch for the planner, Mark for the gift certificates, and for everyone's greetings! I received a lot of gifts but I believe they can't read this. who can't read this. hehe I was touched when my boyfriend slipped our couple ring into my Ferrero Rocher. Yumminess to my taste buds and heart!

I spent the day eating and sleeping. I felt so relaxed. We had a simple celebration at home and honestly, I was contented. I treated Marvin's family to some cake and ice cream.

I celebrated my birthday with the simple pleasures of life! The world has been treating me well. I am fat and happy! Figuratively and sadly, literally. haha :)

Tanduay Rhum First Five: My Story

I can't believe how time flies so fast. It's been seven days since my wonderful Tanduay First Five experience. Since obtaining tickets to the event was so easy, there were too many people, including the not so civilized ones. To add fuel to fire, the weather was so uncooperative. My companions did not bother going in anymore. I'm sure glad they decided to ditch the event. There were a lot of people who caused trouble and got arrested.I was lucky to have been spared from the chaos, though. I thank my friends Renee Rolette Tan and Maria Carla Estella for squeezing me into the VIP area as a pseudo-photographer. I hope you still found my photos acceptable. haha

The set-up of the event was weird because there was a VIP area at the backstage but the front stage was blocked. It didn't make sense because what would you do in VIP area when you can't watch the concert? Honey and I made our way to the front stage even if it was clear that the bouncer wanted to kick us out. I guess our nonchalance simply overpowered his arrogance. hahahah

I wasn't able to take photos of Sandwich because of the heavy rain. Good thing Raymond Marasigan joined the other bands. Did I mention that he was drunk? While he was on his way to the backstage, we bumped.. I mean he literally run us over and didn't even apologize. Chicosci had so many gimmicks, I mean too many. They sang Taylor Swift's and Justin Bieber's songs. They also brought along a Michael Jackson impersonator. For me, Chicosci was okay. Miggy tried to interact with the crowd. There were some who dissed him but he didn't seem to mind.

I don't really like 6 Cycle Mind, but I commend the vocalist because he was able to control the people who were already behaving badly. He sang an Eraserheads song, I think it was Alapaap and everyone enjoyed it. I bumped into him at the backstage but I didn't ask for a photo with him. Okay, I'm so mean. haha

Kamikazee rocked the night. Jay was his usual entertaining self. He was so funny and he connected with the crowd. He asked a cross dresser to come up on stage, who gulped and finished his Tanduay. Jay then told him/her to kiss him anywhere he desired. He/she kissed him on the neck. It was so funny. We later found the cross dresser, who passed out, after the show. He/she was lying on the floor with puke all over the place. Tanduay's first aid squad was useless. One woman just pointed a flash light at him/her and poked her. What a jerk! Jay came and their guitarist Jomal was the one who help him/her sit, saying "Bumangon ka, maraming tao. Nakakahiya." Awww what a great guy. I think he was concerned especially because he/she was wearing a short skirt.

The finale. The main reason why I insisted on going to the event despite the madness was Bamboo (the band). I have been a Bamboo groupie since college and I always try to attend their concerts here in Cebu. To my dismay, Bamboo (the vocalist) acted like a diva. He went out, surrounded with bouncers, when everything was ready. Posing for a photo with him wasn't allowed. During their turn, he didn't interact with the crowd. I wasn't really surprised because Bamboo does not usually ad lib, but during that night, he looked pissed. I guess it had something to do with the lousy sound system. Oh well. What can I say, he's a great singer.

I didn't get my dream photo with Bamboo (I was able to pose with Bamboo in the past, but the picture quality sucks!) but at least other artists were kind enough to pose with me. Most of all, I was able to watch a fun concert with my friends and take tons of photos. Overall, it was a great night.

Cheers to the Birthday Girl

What a great way to start December, the season of giving... and overeating. :) My good friend RC celebrated her 23rd... err 24th birthday. Just don't mind her erroneous cake, after all, age is just a number, right?

She looked stunning in her pink and yellow ensemble.

Celebrations are a great way to bond with our friends. We missed your presence, Cam and Burok. Although I'm glad we were able chat, big thanks to the Internet.

I hope you liked my gift!

Cheers to the birthday girl! I love you so much Dai. You're one of my treasures. I am rich because of friends like you.

66th 25th of the month

The boyf and I always try to celebrate our monthsaries. It does not have to be grand, as long as we eat out and spend time with each other.

Today is our 66th monthsary and we decided to go to an all-you-can-eat buffet at Joven's Grill in A.S. Fortuna. It is one of our favorites because the PHP178 per person goes a long way.

Nobody seems to give a damn on the Mongolian station. Maybe they are just unaware that it's a part of the buffet. Oh well, their oblivion is my gain. hahah Kidding! The customers are really missing out on a lot of things. Isn't it fun to get to choose what goes in your food and have someone cook it for you? Maybe the raw ingredients at the station are not that inviting.

The best things about buffets for me are unlimited desserts! I specifically loved the tiny chocolate-coated munchkins that I munched on in the middle of my main course. The also small chocolate tart. I think I can chow it down until dawn. hehehe

Can you guess what this is? I decided to play with my drink, so I added some slices of watermelon to my orange juice. Refreshing!

I love monthsaries as much as I enjoy eating!
