Slouchy Beanies with Ribbing Launch

I came up with a new design for my crocheted beanies and I launched it yesterday. Before the day was over, my first- and second-week slots were already filled.

I'm so happy for the positive response. I didn't expect my made-up pattern would turn out great. I would like to thank Alex Lorenzana for being my reliable and talented graphic artist. I have a new-and-improved logo and a lovely ad! I also thank my sis Mitch Lorenzana for taking time to pose in our five-minute shoot! haha

Blake Griffin: My New NBA Sweetheart

When Allen Iverson left the NBA, I pretty much stopped caring about the league. Lately, I have been watching it again because I am setting my eyes on someone new and it's L.A. Clippers' Blake Griffin!

He is a high jumper and he can effortless dunk the ball so well. I'm really really impressed! People say he looks kind of funny and a little cross-eyed, but I find him very cute. After incredibly dunking the ball, he has this sheepish grin that really puts a smile on my face! He is this humble and amazing guy who does not showboat. He even gets into other players' nerves by merely being great. Ahhhh I'm in love! Thanks to Youtube I could be able to watch hundreds of videos featuring him. hahahaha

I've been meaning to blog about him and what better time to so than after winning this year's NBA Slam Dunk Contest? He won over Oklahoma Thunders' Serge Ibaka, Toronto Raptors' Demar DeRozan and Washington Wizards' Javale McGee. All of them did jaw-dropping dunks and I enjoyed all of them. McGee, who was the the runner up, did two amazing dunks during the first two rounds, which involved dunking two balls on the first round and three on the second. No one has ever done both in the history of the league. It was pretty amazing and I honestly got nervous because Blake didn't have too many crazy props and stunts.

Talk about saving the best for last! He brought the biggest props you can ever think of, a Kia Optima car! With the choir singing “I Believe I Can Fly” on the background, his teammate Baron Davis came out of the sunroof and passed the ball alley-hoop style to him! McGee seemed to have already run out of ideas because he wasn't able to do a better dunk. I immediately thought that convoluted stunt was enough to earn Blake the crown. 68 percent of the worldwide voting through text message sealed the deal.

Some say that jumping over a hood of a car isn't that great. Well we all have opinions and I don't think McGee's final dunk was that spectacular.

I looooove you Blake!

On other sports news, Filipino Flash Nonito Donaire Jr. knocked out Fernando Montiel on the second round. All of us at home screamed at the top of our lungs when Montiel fell and seemed to have had a seizure. Donaire was able to steal Montiel's WBO and WBC bantamweight titles! Yeah! I'm truly proud!

Life is Sweeter with Chocolates

I'm a certified chocoholic and to be honest, I couldn't imagine spending my life without its addicting aroma and taste. Even during my weight-loss conquest years ago, I never entirely cut my relationship with this treat.

Tonight, I received a TREMENDOUS amount of chocolates and I'm sooooo happpppy!!! Dawna and Peach gave me a gigantic one-kilogram white chocolate bar from Malaysia. I'm so glad that that this is not just a dream. Their friends arrived from Malaysia and I feel lucky they thought of me when they received their share.

I also met up with my SpEd classmates and I was so shocked when Abby, who arrived from Singapore, handed me two boxes of milk and dark chocolates. Each box contains 30 squares. Is this for real? I mean, really?

Ahhhh the theobromine and anandamide are kicking in. I'm in choco heaven! Thank you! :D

Ladies' Night Out

Warning: This entry exudes vanity. haha

This was our post valentine celebration. Nah! We just wanted an excuse to meet up despite our busy scheds, as well as dress up.

I don't classify myself as a fashionista. Everyone who knows me can attest that I am not the type who fancies wearing dresses or other girly clothes. I'm more of a laid-back racerback/tanktop person. We made an agreement that we would dress up tonight. I honestly have a stash of never-been-worn dresses at the bottom of my closet. I guess it's time I put one of them to use. I didn't really contemplate on my wardrobe choice. Before going to work this morning, I just grabbed the first dress I saw; it was a colorful stripe dress I bought last year. I chose a pair of white stilettos to go with it.

I went to RC's house after work. It was funny how she changed from one dress to another, while I just looked at the only dress I brought with me. I actually didn't have a problem with it. haha With some powder, blush and eyeliner, I was good to go.

We went to Tara's Cafe (again!) and since it was past eight, we almost had the place to ourselves. We were free to roam around for picture-taking and go back to the buffet table. The waiters were so attentive to make our dining experience more enjoyable.

RC, Cai, Hanay and Mitoy... I lab u guys!

Happy Valentine's Day!

The boyf and I celebrated Valentine's the best way we know... by pigging out! haha We went out on a "date" yesterday. We had lunch at Tara's Cafe.

I can't say we're really fans of this commercialized day, but we were really going out yesterday so mind as well call it a V-day date. haha Today, the 14th of February, we decided to spend our day like we any other day: fun conversations over whatever food we felt like eating. We opted to ditch the crowded places and headed to a mall near our place (Gaisano Tabunok) and ate shawarma rice and beef siomai. Almost everyday, I feel like it's Valentine's. :D

Here are yesterday's photos. The food was great. He loved the ribs, burger steak, and sisig.

I enjoyed the squid, chicken barbecue, shrimp balls. I was specifically happy with the... wait for it... DESSERTS! I was in heaven!

Happy Heart's Day! Stay in love, kiddos! Even when the love season is over. :D
I lab u panggoo! Thanks for everything. :D

Ultimo: The Drum-and-Bass Ensemble

I got to watch the unveiling of my boyf's new bass-and-drum ensemble. Yup, you heard it right. Their band Ultimo is just composed of a vocalist, bassist and drummer. When he explained why there only three members in their band, the people didn't seem to give a damn. But when they started, it was apparent that they were in awe because it became very quiet. I guess the people were amazed how they were able to pull off some great songs without a lead or rhythm guitar. The audience sang along and they enjoyed their set. They were even encouraged to buy some Ultimo shirts. haha

I'm so proud of you, Ultimo! I had a great time. It was my pleasure to take your photos. I'm hoping for more gigs.Payter!

Congratulations to the lucky blogger!

First of all, I would like to thank everyone who took time to join my giveaway. The result is in!!!

The surprise "drawer" is my own mom! She herself was surprised when she arrived and I practically dragged her to do something she didn't understand. I chose my mom to draw the lucky winner to be truly fair. She is a very religious and honest individual, plus, she didn't have a clue about this blog giveaway. That's why I really think she is the most qualified person for this. She wore the first beanie I ever made. It had a lot of flaws but she thinks it's absolutely perfect! Awww I love my mom!

My mom drew the winner only once and the chic khaki beanie goes to:

Congratulations to IYA! FYI, she is my cousin from Manila! It feels like there has been a conspiracy! hahaha

Kidding aside, I'm looking forward to another giveaway! To everyone who joined especially to the new friends I corresponded with.

Another Blog Post About Neekul Beanies

TONIGHT is the draw for my BLOG GIVEAWAY. i'm still waiting for my special DRAWER to arrive. haha

while waiting, read the blog of my latest lovely client about her khaki beanie! thanks a lot AILEEN of i-am-aileen.tumblr.com for taking time to BLOG about NEEKUL BEANIES!

Here's what she had to say:

Hey guys! Look! My order from Cebu finally arrived! A khaki slouchy beanie made by Nicole! Check her out here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Neekul-Beanies/157573027611624

I stumbled upon Nicole’s work when I happened to saw a friend post about her giveaway contest. I’m not the kind of lucky person who wins at contests—lol just look at all the contests I’ve been joining and failing!—so, I ordered instead from her! And was it worth the wait! :)

The beanie is of quality (*thumbs up*) and it’s custom made too, by Nicole! You can also order with your preferred color/s! I’m still not that adventurous in this color-mix-thing (not a colorful person here) so I settled for the khaki one; but who knows? I might order one soon! ‘CAUSE I JUST LOVE THIS BEANIE! And most especially since Nicole herself was a very nice and accommodating seller ;)

Interested? Check her out, ‘kay?
